The corresponding artefact connects to standard (6.3.1) Engage with colleagues and improves practice: Seek and apply constructive feedback from supervisors and teachers to improve teaching practices, as it is feedback provided by my supervisor teacher during my professional experience (AITSL, 2017).

 

 As my supervisor wrote “Isabella has shown great capability and success in working collaboratively with a peer teacher…seeks feedback and implements advice” it provides confirmation that I am able to engage with colleagues and use feedback to improve my practice. I always believe that just like students, teachers never stop learning. I regularly shared and asked for critical feedback when teaching and enquired about the methods and resources I have seen in practice to widen the scope of my own teaching, at the same time have discussed problems in a professional manner to not only improve my practice, but improve learning outcomes for students in my class. As a graduate teacher I plan to take the feedback I have received from all of my work placements and alter lessons and teaching practices to become a more effective teacher within the classroom (Victoria Department of Education and Training, 2019). Teachers are continuously working together; it is vital that we work cooperatively and effectively with other teachers to create engaging learning environments (Janssen & Wubbels, 2017). This artefact will be used in a way for me to maintain a commitment in enhancing my teaching practices and one way this can be done is through, seeking advice from more experienced colleagues in the future (DET, 2005).

 

Feedback is essential for effective learning and receiving feedback from mentor teachers as a beginning teacher has assisted in building my capabilities and resilience to support my transition into the working profession (Gurkan, 2018). Reflecting on this feedback has enabled me to identify my professional learning needs and execute a plan to work towards them effectively (AITSL, 2012). Reflecting on this standard has influenced me to continue in participating in professional learning to improve the quality and content of learning experiences that I provide to my students in the future.
